Our three areas of impact:

  • immediate needs

  • mobility grants

  • journalist mentoring

Zubair Babakarkhail’s daughters in their first apartment in Pittsburgh, in the fall of 2021. The family has since purchased a home.

Team Zubair brings together supporters, businesses, and donors to offer grants to help recently-arriving families in crisis who are starting a new life in the United States.

Immediate Needs: Individuals and businesses connected with the alliance are tapping into their regional and national networks to gather resources for needs like:

  • Tuition

  • Scholarships

  • Housing downpayment assistance

  • Housing goods and repairs

  • Employment opportunities

Mobility Grants: We fund driving lessons and vehicle down payments for qualified individuals needing to improve mobility challenges with getting to work and/or supporting family members.

Journalist Mentoring: We connect with journalists who are arriving in the United States with significant institutional knowledge. We work to connect these journalists with paid opportunities to document their resettlement stories and give a voice to those friends and family members outside the U.S.

Our partners

CET is a small business that has long been giving back to their community. CET has many veterans on staff who feel a moral obligation to help fellow Americans and Global Citizens — including giving back to Afghan refugees.

During the final quarter of 2021, in conjunction with Wisdom Audio, they will be donating every commission dollar earned, and Wisdom will match.

This generous donation translates into grants to directly support Afghan families as they relocate their lives to the beloved Rocky Mountains where CET is located. The staff at CET also intend to provide additional non-monetary support to grantees.
